Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang Called on H.E. President Julius Maada Bio

On May 3, 2019, Chinese Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone, H.E. Hu Zhangliang called on H.E. Julius Maada Bio, the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, at the State House in Freetown.

Ambassador Hu spoke highly of the new and positive changes in Sierra Leone under the strong leadership of H.E. President Bio.He extended sincere congratulations to H.E. President Bio on behalf of the Chinese government. Ambassador Hu said, the Chinese side highly appreciates that H.E. President Bio attaches great importance to the development of China-Sierra Leone bilateral relations. The Chinese side firmly supports the Sierra Leonean side in its implementation of the "New Direction" Strategy, and is willing to deepen bilateral cooperation under the frameworks of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the "Belt and Road" Initiative. “China wishes to promote the continuous development of China-Sierra Leone relations and bring more benefits to the two countries and peoples”, the Ambassador said.

H.E. President Bio regarded China as Sierra Leone’s reliable friend. The President thanked China for consistently providing valuable assistance to Sierra Leone for the latter’s economic and social development. He said “the Sierra Leonean side is deeply grateful for this.” H.E. President Bio pointed out that Sierra Leone was striving to achieve the "New Direction" Strategy and would like to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields with China.
