Chinese Ambassador WU Peng Meets with UNIDO Country Representative to Sierra Leone

On May 9, 2017, Ambassador WU Peng of the People's Republic of China to Sierra Leone, met with United Nation Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) country representative of Sierra Leone Ms. Mariatu Swaray. They had an cordial discussion on the cooperation between China and Sierra Leone industrialization and Africa at large.

Ambassador WU introduced the programs between China and Sierra Leone on industrialization, noting that the cooperation between the two countries has created advantages for both nations, resulting in a win-win outcome. He said China has been attaching great importance to industrial cooperation with other developing countries, and supporting international organizations like UNIDO to promote economic development and the process of industrialization through technological support and industrial cooperation.

Ambassador WU told Ms. Swaray that, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone would keep a close contact through enhancing communication between the Embassy and UNIDO country team in Sierra Leone to promote and develop China-Sierra Leone and Africa practical cooperation.

On her part, UNIDO country Representative also briefed Ambassador WU on what the UN agency was doing in the country and explained that the priority of UNIDO was to help improve the capacity of developing countries' inclusive and sustainable industrialization and also foster innovation.

Ms. Swaray reiterated that China plays a key role in the area of industrialization in Sierra Leone and other African countries. She noted that, UNIDO office would also strengthen cooperation with Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone to promote and accelerate the process of Sierra Leone's industrialization.
